Hi, I’m Bethany – the baker, recipe tinkerer, and joy-spreader behind Bethany’s Joy, a cottage bakery here in West Plains, MO.
As a kid, I grew up baking at my mother’s side, and as an adult I carried that same love into years of experimenting, fine-tuning, and figuring out the tiny tweaks that make a cookie or cinnamon roll just that much better.
When I was a kid, my dad used to take us to a local bakery on Saturday mornings. I’d usually get a double chocolate muffin and we’d sit at the little cafe tables enjoying our treats.
In hindsight, I’m sure he did it just to get us out of Mom’s hair for a bit 🤣But I will always remember stepping inside the bakery, smelling the warm sugary smells and feeling the coziness and thinking “when I grow up maybe I’ll own a bakery.”
It’s kinda like the same vibe my kitchen gets when I have hundreds of cookies piled up on cooling racks 💕And maybe grown-up Bethany doesn’t want to run a full-on brick & mortar bakery, but I just LOVE being able to bring all of my Bethany’s Joy cookies, brownies, and cinnamon rolls to the local West Plains area and seeing the smiles on my customers’ faces as they tell me how much they love them.
